The Materials and Electronics for Space Applications (MESA) component conducts a research program on thin-film
materials with high potential for sensor and other optoelectronic applications of interest to NASA and industry at large.
Focus is on specific materials with dual-purpose technology potential for developing new or improved devices.
Broad areas of expected impact are: Microwave communications, UV-astronomy and Sensor, and optoelectronic devices in general
The group also provides excellent opportunities for UPR students to train in cutting-edge technologies and to gain experience in current
materials research. This is achieved mainly through their participation in MESA work, but also through internships at NASA research centers, under the
guidance of NASA collaborators. |
